The Story of Revive Family Counseling: From My Heart to Yours by Edita Hall, LMFT, QS

If someone had told me years ago that I would one day be the founder of my own counseling practice, I’m not sure I would have believed them. But here I am, and every step of this journey has been both humbling and rewarding. Revive Family Counseling was born from a simple idea that grew in my heart over time: families are the foundation of our lives, and when they’re strong and healthy, everything else can fall into place.

After working for many years as a therapist in different settings, I started to see gaps in the kind of care people were receiving—especially families. I met couples who felt lost in their relationships, children who couldn’t find the words for their pain, and parents who didn’t know how to help. I began to dream about creating a space where families could feel safe, where they could come to not only work through their struggles but to grow together.

In the beginning, I didn’t have much more than a vision and a whole lot of hope. Revive Family Counseling established in 2018 opened its doors in Fort Myers, Florida, with just one small office and a handful of clients. I remember sitting in that office on the first day, feeling both excited and nervous, wondering how long it would take for that vision to become reality. But something special started happening right away—clients who walked in with heavy hearts left feeling lighter. There was something about the environment we were creating, where people felt truly listened to and cared for.

But I can’t take all the credit. The truth is, I wouldn’t have gotten to this point without my incredible husband. His belief in me and his unwavering support gave me the confidence to take that leap of faith. He stood by me through every uncertain moment, every challenge, and without him, the idea of starting this practice may never have come to fruition. He’s been my rock through it all, and I am forever grateful.

I’ve always believed that healing isn’t just about talking through problems—it’s about connection. And that’s the heart of Revive. Whether it’s a couple struggling to communicate, a child trying to make sense of big emotions, or an individual battling anxiety, my goal has always been to offer a space where people can feel supported as they work through life’s toughest challenges.

It wasn’t long before word started to spread. People were sharing their experiences, and soon, more families were reaching out for help. It was around this time that I realized I couldn’t do it all alone. Slowly but surely, I began to build a team. Each therapist who joined Revive shared my vision of compassionate care, and together, we became stronger. We weren’t just counselors—we were partners in our clients’ healing journeys.

Looking back, the most incredible part of this journey has been seeing the changes in the families we serve. There’s nothing quite like watching a couple rediscover the love they thought was lost, or seeing a child come in anxious and withdrawn and leave with a sense of confidence and joy. It’s these moments, these breakthroughs, that remind me why I do this work.

Of course, the journey hasn’t been without its challenges. Running a business—especially one that’s so personal—has its ups and downs. There were times when I questioned whether I could manage it all, but every time I had doubts, I was reminded by the stories of healing that filled our office. My team and I always found a way forward, fueled by the belief that what we were doing mattered.

As Revive Family Counseling continues to grow, my heart is full of gratitude. What started as a small dream has blossomed into something so much bigger. We’ve expanded our services, added new therapists, and reached more families than I ever could have imagined. But through it all, one thing has remained constant: the commitment to helping people revive—their relationships, their mental health, their sense of self.

For me, Revive Family Counseling is more than just a practice—it’s my life’s work. Every day, I’m honored to walk alongside families as they navigate their unique journeys. I never take for granted the trust they place in us, and it’s my deepest hope that every person who steps through our doors feels seen, heard, and valued.

As we continue this journey, I can’t wait to see what the future holds. There’s so much more to do, more lives to touch, and more families to strengthen. And through it all, I’ll be here—right alongside them, committed to the vision that started this all: a belief in the power of connection, and the possibility of healing.
