Jay is a local Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who has been providing psychotherapy and case management services in SWFL for the last decade.
In 2020, in the midst of a pandemic, Jay has earned her certification to be a child and teen certified anxiety and trauma specialist in order to help with the aftermaths of the damage the pandemic has caused.
Jay moved to Florida in 2002 and began her educational journey at Florida Southwestern College. After earning an AA degree she transferred to Florida Gulf Coast University in 2006 to study Social Work.
Jay graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor’s of Social Work and continued her education at Florida Gulf Coast University. She earned a Master’s of Social Work degree in 2009. Jay started working with victims of domestic and sexual violence as a victims’ advocate in Fort Myers. In 2012 she moved to the small community of Labelle, FL and began working as a hospice social worker.
Jay worked with the terminally ill patients and their families for two years before transferring into the bereavement department in 2014 at the same company. Jay’s focus and passion lies with the moral development of children and teens, as well as assisting families in adjusting to major life changes. Jay’s background and education allows her to work with children of all ages.
She believes in the power of working with a family as a whole and provides creative interventions designed to help each member of the family thrive. She uses an eclectic, strength perspective approach to healing. Jay believes in the power of choices and encourages her client’s to focus on things within their control. Jay believes in “cheer-leading” her clients, allowing individuals the room to grow and discover their own path. She often uses humor and unconditional positive regard to build a positive, trusting relationship with clients.
Jay’s background with working with families allows her to share her expertise with couples and families seeking relationship support.
Jay has also earned her qualifications to supervise Master’s level SW graduates who are seeking LCSW licensure in the state of FL. Jay is currently accepting applications for interns seeking licensure.
Jay is providing therapy sessions in the Fort Myers office. Jay is also providing in home services to individuals and families in Labelle, Clewiston and surrounding areas.
